OSI Layers
Written by The Geekette on August 31, 2005 – 11:38 amPosted in Networking | No Comments »
The OSI model (Open Systems Interconnection defined by ISO 7498
) model defines the idea interoperability between the network devices and software by dividing the functions of a protocol into different layers. This is useful for troubleshooting and teaching in network concepts. It brought together a common idea whereas before, it was vendor specific and proprietary. Layers 4-7 will deal with end to end communications between the data source and the destination where as the Layers 1-3 will deal with the communications between the devices found on the network.
Objectives

For the next few days, it most likely look like I am not working on this site. In actuality, I am working "behind the scenes" on this site by trying to make it more search engine friendly. My objectives are:
- Add keywords too all articles already listed
- Add related links to all of the articles
- Make sure all of the external links open in a new window
- Verifying CSS and XHTML on every page
- Make all lists in articles uniform
- Improve layout and wording of many posts
Some other projects I will be working on include:
- Adding an icon to a link that is an external link to show it will open in a new window.
- To give a title to all links and make it CSS and XHTML valid.
- Make a sitemap or TOC that dynamic generates and is linkable.

Sig Files to Random Quote

I was not quite sure how to migrate the Sig Files from Aleeya.net
. I did not want to lose them after I have collected so many. Now, they are displayed as the random quote at the top left of this page.
