UV Markings to Deter Counterfeiting
Written by The Geekette on June 24, 2006 – 2:09 pmPosted in Technology | No Comments »
While playing around with a UV light I bought (for my puppy during potty training and a carpet
I realized many things we see everyday have UV markings on them to deter counterfeiting. Below are some of my findings.
Amateur Radio License - you can see the markings in the paper it is printed on
Savings Bond - you can see the markings on the paper and the emblem to the right
Visa and MasterCard - you can see the symbol and letters
Texas License from about 10+ years ago even then has the word Texas written diagonally in UV
North Carolina Car Title - This has NCDMV repeated over the title
The 5$ bill and higher - you can see the marking on the left - Newer bills also turn pink under the blacklight
Windows XP StartUP List

Here is a link I definitely thought was worth mentioning. A List of all the start up programs in Windows XP and wheter or not they NEED to run or are dangerous.
http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php?letter=&filter=&count=50&offset=12500
If you are like I am and you are always trying to streamline your XP box to get only the services you NEED running in MSCONFIG or want to see if some programs are adware, viruses, trojans, drivers, etc.. this list has some of the most common, whether they are required and what they are. This has to be one of the most excellent resources I have seen.
To check to see what startup programs you have, Click on START then RUN And type MSCONFIG in the RUN box and hit ENTER. You will see a new window come up and the STARTUP tab on the right has all of the programs that start up when your computer boots. Just check these programs against the list and see if that program is needed or not.

Click on the above graphic to download the Planet3 Wireless CWNA Study Sheet
Planet3 Wirelesses CWNA is an certification for people wuth a foundation level wireless LAN. This certification exam measures your ability to administer any wireless LAN. The exam covers a broad range of wireless LAN topics focused on 802.11 wireless technology.
This is a much harder test than I expected! Know your antennas, math, Site surveys well. I have compiled a list of notes that I had taken while studying for this exam. This is not all of the material you will need, but it is a nice cliff notes version of some of the more important points. The CWNA Book by Planet 3 is the Study Guide I used as well as some online quizzes I found via a search engine on the web. I have posted my notes on this website for others to download. It is available free to anyone. There are no guarantees with this cheat sheet I have made. I originally made it just to remind me of a few things for a quick study before taking the exam. Please do not rely solely on this for studying.
