While trying to understand the basic meaning of the umask command I jotted down some notes on the umask command. These notes are my attempt to understand explain the basics of the umask command. It is assumed the reader has a basic understanding of the permissions in linux.
For further information on umask, there are also more notes on umask written by hunter. These notes do not take into account sticky or setuid bits either.
