Whats a geek? Are you a geek?
Originally a geek was a carnival performer who bit off chicken heads in a side show.

Geeks later were depicted for years as the brainiacs with pencil protectors in their pockets. Their glasses had tape over the nose. They were right there with the nerds.

My, how times changes!
Although Geeks are still "normally" above average in intelligence, it has now become a positive term. It is a compliment to be called a Geek.

When it comes to computers and the internet, the Computer Geeks are the ones that are so far involved with this technology, they live, eat and breathe computers. These are the ones that create the programs most people just use. They test and retest and learn about computers far more than the average person. Geeks are the one that make computers look like Legos when they break.. just snap the parts back together and go on. A Geek is known to be dedicated almost to a "weird" stance. Geeks create, test, test, break, fix and test to get it working just right.

Many people just term a person who sits at a computer too long as a Geek.

Historically, Geeks were generally considered to be males. This was especially true when it came to Computers. Nowadays, roles are changing. Even though a Computer Geek is still a group dominated mainly by men, more and more females are getting into computers.

Robert Hayden came up with a "Signature" for Geeks. This "Signature" became known as "GeekCode" or the Code of the Geeks. This is a universal way to tell the whole world "Yes, I am a geek and proud of it!"

The GeekCode summarizes you as a geek in different aspects. Creating one is only half of the fun!
