- A jack isn’t installed on the bottom five CM of a wooden baseboard: bottom plate of the wall will prevent you from pushing the box into the baseboard
- Turn off the power to the area is most important thing to do before you work in walls, ceilings or attics
- Wiring sequence is critical when RJ-45 jacks are used at the telecomm outlet in a horizontal cabling scheme
- Cut-sheet - a rough diagram that shows where the cable runs are located
- The cable itself is labeled at each end when running a cable from the wiring closet to wall jacks
- When preparing to run cable, label the boxes and cables
- Tie wraps are used to mount cables to a wall
- Decorative raceway should be used if it will be visible in the room
- If an existing raceway already contains a power cable, you should not route more
- Personal safety precautions before you install cable: wear long sleeves, wear long pants, check for power cables
