Good tip. I have used Ad-aware for a number years. It is interesting to see how many of these programs try to play on that name.

Almost every day, you hear about such programs.

I use the word MALWARE to describe the actual spy-ware infectations people get, and ADAWARE for the program to kill them off.

I use SpyBot S&D and ADAWARE to kill all my infections off, coupled with NOD32 and I have had nothing but 100% success since I used them.

Its funny when you have a clean system, run some program to have a look, it finds a fair number but you cannot get rid of them until you pay for the full program, and guess what? - you now have lots of rubbish in your PC that you cannot clean out… Clever!

fake Anti-Spyware such as SpySheriff and ps guard seem to be a popular way to scare new Internet users into purchasing terrible wares or simply giving up their credit card infor. I noticed that most of these application attack unsecured (no firewall or anti-malware) Windows systems, using Internet Explorer. There is an awful lot of this malware at crack/serial/warez sites.
