Many study-exam places host forums to help the members who have questions. Advice about passing exams, study guides, and helpful information along with encouragement is a great way to help others.
I used to think the world of the people at TechExams.net. From what I have seen since I have been a member since 2003 was a forum devoted to helping others learn, answering questions and encouraging others for certifications.
I thought I would add my 2 cents for helping others as well. That IS what it is supossed to be all about.
Well evidentally it was not on that site. I posted 3 different links in their forums after some other posts congratulating other members on passing certifications. The links were to my study notes here on the site
. I call them my cheat sheets. I made them when I was studying for various exams. They are pages of jotted down notes for quick reminders and reference cards. So many people have found them useful, I thought I would pass them on.
What I got was a message from the CWNA moderator asking me if I posted them so I could drive traffic to my website to get hits and money from ads.
WHAT???
I have never even made any money off of this site. If I have - it has never been sent to me that I know of. My bank records and paypal can prove that
I had only published the notes on my site because I have used them, they were helpful in studying and my persuit to learn, and others love them as well.
In the previous article, we met John Hancock who had just bought a new Dell
laptop from Circuit City
. He also bought a wireless router and sat outside purchasing a new domain name from Godaddy.com
. Enjoying the freedom of the wireless technology, John sat outside in his lounge chair and also purchased a place to host email and a new website he is going to build.
You might have noticed that John did look for the "HTTPS" instead of the "HTTP" when he made a secure transaction. This is a good thing! Kudos to John for remembering to do that. The extra "S" in the URL stands for "Secure" meaning he is making his transaction with a credit card over a secure site. This will prevent anyone else from seeing the credit card numbers on the website (Basically).
John also got a pretty good deal on the Dell
laptop from Circuit City
. The wireless router was not a bad price either. John can add a few more points to his "shopping karma". Godaddy.com
also has some of the lowest prices around for domain registration. Way to go John!
Now, aside for saving money with those purchases, John actually did make some mistakes that could cost him in the long run. The mistakes were not due to the purchases he made. They were due to the technology he is using.
As convenient as wireless networking is, he was not aware of a few things. Namely, how insecure wireless technology can be.
I am a Computer and Network Technician. I love what I do for a living, as my work is also my hobby.
All of the technical information from the original Aleeya.net site became this site - GirlGeekette dotNet - and the remaining became what is now known as Aleeya dotNet. This site is where I store all of my notes related to computers and Technology so I may share it with others.
