IE – Change The Title Bar

By default, Internet Explorer’s title bar shows the name of the Web site you’re viewing, followed by “Microsoft Internet Explorer”—or in some cases, your company’s name or the name of the ISP that supplied the browser.

To change the text (or to get rid of it altogether), navigate to

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Double-click the Window Title icon in the right pane. (If you don’t see this icon, right-click in the pane, choose New/String Value, type Window Title, and press Enter.)

When the box pops up, type what you want to see on IE’s title bar, or type nothing to show only the site name.

Another way to reset it back to default is using the following registry file.

If you are running Windows as administrator:

Use the Windows Key +R to get a Run Box.
Type in CMD and hit ENTER
At the command prompt, type in “slmgr.vbs -ipk ”
To activate windows after changing the key,
Use Windows Key +R to get a Run Box.
run “slmgr.vbs -ato”

If you are not running Windows as administrator:

Click on the Start Button and type in command prompt so that it shows up on your start menu search list.
Right click on the Command Prompt shortcut and select Run As Administrator.
At the command prompt, type in “slmgr.vbs -ipk ”
To activate windows after changing the key,
Use Windows Key +R to get a Run Box.
run “slmgr.vbs -ato”

The registered owner and organization can be easily changed in Windows by changing two registry keys.

Use Windows Key +R to get a Run Box.
Type in Regedit in the search box and hit Enter .

Open registry editor by typing Regedit at the Run.
Navigate to the Registry key
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Next navigate to Software
Under Software, navigate to
- Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\WPAEvents
When you have navigated to the above mentioned key, on the right, lookout for ODBETimer. Right click on ODBETimer and select Modify.
Here for the value, just change a minimum of one character by deleting or modifying the value. The change in value renders the existing product key invalid and also deactivates Windows.
Next, Click on Start –> Run and enter the below mentioned command. Replace with the Windows installation directory for your system. Usually for default installations this is C:\Windows
- \system32\oobe\msoobe /a
After this Windows will present to you an Activation screen. The one you would have also seen during the installation. Here, select the Option which says ” Yes. I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows” and click on the button marked Next.
