Turn Off Program Compatibility Assistant Service

Windows Vista Program Compatibility Assistant Service is a service with Windows Vista. It alerts you that it has not allowed something to install because of a compatibility issued.
The problem I ran into is sometimes programs can work using XP drivers if there are not any Vista drivers available.
Because of Windows Vista Program Compatibility Assistant Service, I could not install anything bit Windows Vista drivers. Yet, there were none yet. The solution is to disable this, and install Windows XP drivers.
It took me quite a while to find the workaround for this. Many manufactures like Roxio have created a “patch” to let the other version install on Vista. But, what happens if the manufacturer you are trying to install drivers from has not created a program?
This is how you do the work around and install Windows XP drivers in Windows Vista:
- CTRL ALT DEL
- Click on Services
- Click on the Names column to re-arrange alphebicatally
- Locate PcaSvc
- Windows Task Manager
- Right click and disable it

2. Type services.msc then press enter
3. Locate PcaSvc then double click
4. Startup Type: Disable (instead of automatic)
